Cultural-artistic initiative WERCATOR: Tomaž Grušovnik, Neža Mekota, Tina Merica, Enisa Muzeinović

The project aims to explore the artistic and informative potential of QR codes. Primarily, it is considered an artwork which, through the employment of artistic intervention in the city space, strives to re-examine differences between virtuality and reality. Secondly, it is incorporated in the framework of the festival as its preview event.

Q:aRt consists of a workshop and lectures on subjects of QR codes production, the process of making graffiti stencils, the principles of providing information within the public space and the potential of multimedia art.

Artist Talk

Biography

TomazGrusovnikTomaž Grušovnik is a philosopher, publicist and fine artist. He is the author of a scientific monograph entitled “Shades of Green”, a Fulbright grantee, a visiting professor at the University of Oslo and the “Messenger of Science 2012” prize winner. He has made individual exhibitions in Koper, Vienna and Ljubljana in the framework of the Month of Design. He also participated in a multimedia event “Black Crow” in Ljubljana’s K4 club.

QaRtTINAMerica

Tina Merica is a landscape architect from Murska Sobota, whose creative activities cover an array of areas of the urban culture; she organizes music and visual events, conducts workshops and dedicates most of her time to cultural-artistic space interventions. Jointly with DrMr, she prepared a series of musical and visual urban interventions and workshops united under the common name PREJK12 in Murska Sobota, which formed part of the Maribor ECC 2012 project. They were rewarded for their work with an invitation to an international conference on How to transform degraded urban space, which took place at Maribor’s Kibla. Likewise, she participated at this year’s 28th Vilenica International Literary Festival in the frame of ++386 Author to go project.

QartnezaMekota

Neža Mekota is in her final year of studies at the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Biotechnical Faculty of Ljubljana’s University; she is currently writing her final thesis on “Reconstruction of Baroque park Turnišče near Ptuj”. Neža is additionally a curator (BIG Creative, Month of Design 2012), an interior designer (Ptujska tiskarna), a light designer (Strle svetila), graphic designer, set designer and an illustrator (Amann’s nursery and a magic friend, written by Urška Orešnik – Anchea). She is an active member of the cultural-artistic initiative Black Crow (Črni vran). She performed ++386 Author to go exhibitions in the framework of the International Literary Festival Vilenica 2013.
