C-drík aka Kirdec
The Kiblix 2013 resident artist C-drík Fermont will be staying in Maribor until 20 November 2013. During the course of the festival he will present his Open Lab workshop, which is scheduled to continue on November 18. The number of participants is limited to 10 persons.
Many composers nowadays don’t experiment anymore, they use ready-made software and often produce some standard music completely saturated with sounds. The artist will provide an introduction to a very minimal way to compose (experimental) music by using one short audio sound source only and extend it to a full composition by looping, pitching, layering, feedbacking, playing with its dynamic, spacialisation, etc. No special skills needed but your imagination.
C-drík aka Kirdec (Cedrik Fermont) begun to study declamation, orchestral drums and music theory in 1985, started to compose music in 1989 in the project Crno Klank. He continued to study electro-acoustic/acousmatic music at the conservatory of Mons, Belgium. He currently produces different music genres ranging from electro-acoustic music to minimal wave, digital punk to industrial, dark ambient to electronica, etc. He is the owner of Syrphe, a label partly dedicated to alternative electronic and experimental music from Africa and Asia.
